Patient Care for Sleep Apnea Treatment

Snoring and obstructive sleep apnea are medical problems. Therefore, we require an objective medical assessment as a prerequisite for everyone seeking oral appliance therapy.

With your best interests in mind, Dr. Blumenstock and staff function in cooperation with a medical sleep team that includes sleep physicians and other specialists such as neurologists, pulmonologists and ear, nose and throat specialists. Following referral from a physician, our patients are thoroughly examined in the dental setting by Dr. Blumenstock. With him, you will discuss all options, advantages, limitations and consequences specific to your situation. Several weeks may be needed after fitting the appropriate oral appliance to correctly adjust it to a comfortable and effective position.

We like to see all our sleep patients twice per year long-term during active treatment to ensure the integrity of the oral structures and continued effectiveness of the treatment. We want you to have success in solving your sleep apnea problems, so we do our best to make sure your needs are met and you sleep soundly.

Interview with Dr. Blumenstock part III

Stroke, heart attack, diabetes, high blood pressure can all be a result of people who suffer from sleep apnea. Statistics read that most ambulances respond between the hours of 3 and 6 am. This is during the time of sleep called REM. REM is characterized by your body being paralyzed, your eyes going back and forth and blood pressure shooting up. For someone who has sleep apnea and is at higher risk for certain medical issues, this could be a time of danger.

Getting treatment for sleep apnea can be an emotional experience. It is important that you stand by and support your family member or spouse as they go through the process of treatment. We are here to help. Our staff is geared to make it as comfortable as possible, and we can do our best to help make treatment affordable. We believe that you deserve a better quality of life.

First Step to Better Sleep

Do you wake up not feeling like you got a full nights rest? Do you wake up constantly because your sleeping partner snores loudly all night long? If you answer yes to either of these questions then you may want to contact Dr. Blumenstock with Central Jersey Dental Sleep Medicine.

Many patients come to us because their partners or family members notice heavy snoring or frequent episodes where they stop breathing while sleeping. Spouses often report pauses in breathing followed by a gasp for air. For many people who sleep alone or with partners who sleep to deeply to notice a problem there are a couple of questions you can ask to see if you suffer from sleep apnea. If you can answer "yes" to any of the questions in our sleep questionnaire then contact us to see how you can best proceed. It is your first step to better sleep, and a healthier lifestyle.
